Colonel Ajay’s Defence Academy (CADA) conducts the target program for AFCAT and Naval Academy entrance examinations.

AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test)

The AFCAT is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for the recruitment of officers into various branches of the Air Force, including the Flying Branch, Technical Branch, and Ground Duty Branches.

1. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit:
    • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (as of the first day of the month in which the course is scheduled to commence).
    • Technical and Ground Duty Branches: 20 to 26 years.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Flying Branch:
      • 60% marks in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
      • A graduate degree with at least 60% marks or a BE/BTech degree with at least 60%.
    • Technical Branch:
      • BE/BTech degree with at least 60% marks.
    • Ground Duty Branches:
      • A graduate degree with a minimum percentage of 60% or as specified in the notification.

2. Exam Pattern:

  • Type: Multiple-choice questions
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Sections:
    • General Awareness: Current affairs, history, geography, politics, etc.
    • Verbal Ability in English: English comprehension, sentence correction, etc.
    • Numerical Ability: Arithmetic, algebra, and basic mathematics.
    • Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: Logical reasoning, spatial ability, etc.

3. Selection Process:

  1. Written Examination: Based on the AFCAT pattern.
  2. AFCAT Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the written test are called for an interview.
  3. Medical Examination: To ensure candidates meet the required health standards.

4. Preparation Tips:

NAVAL ACADEMY EXAMINATION

The Naval Academy exam typically refers to the entrance examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for admission to the Indian Naval Academy (INA). This is part of the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) and is for the recruitment of officers into the Indian Navy.

1. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Generally 19 to 22 years (for entry into INA), with specific age limits given in the notification.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • For INA: 10+2 pass with Physics and Mathematics.

2. Exam Pattern:

The exam pattern for the Naval Academy entry through CDSE is as follows:

  • Written Examination:
    • Subjects:
      • Mathematics: Questions based on mathematical concepts and problem-solving.
      • General Knowledge: Questions on current affairs, history, geography, and general science.
      • English: Questions on grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary.
    • Duration: 2 hours per paper.
    • Format: Multiple-choice questions.
  • SSB Interview:
    • Candidates who clear the written examination are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview, which includes:
      • Psychological Tests: Various assessments to evaluate personality and psychological suitability.
      • Group Tests: Activities and exercises to assess teamwork and leadership skills.
      • Personal Interview: Interaction with board members to assess personal suitability for a career in the Navy.
  • Medical Examination: To ensure candidates meet the medical and physical standards required.
