The SSB (Services Selection Board) Interview is a crucial part of the selection process for candidates aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. 1. Stages of the SSB Interview:
- Screening Test:
- Day 1:
- OIR Test (Officer Intelligence Rating): A series of aptitude tests designed to assess logical reasoning, verbal, and numerical abilities.
- PPDT (Picture Perception and Description Test): A visual test where candidates are shown a picture and asked to write a story based on it. They then share and discuss their story in a group.
- Day 1:
- Psychological Tests:
- TAT (Thematic Apperception Test): Candidates are shown a series of pictures and asked to write a story for each one, focusing on the main character’s thoughts and actions.
- WAT (Word Association Test): Candidates are given a list of words and asked to write the first word that comes to their mind upon seeing each one.
- SRT (Situation Reaction Test): Candidates are presented with various hypothetical situations and asked to write their reactions or solutions.
- Group Tests:
- GD (Group Discussion): Candidates discuss a given topic in a group to evaluate their communication skills, leadership, and ability to work as part of a team.
- GPE (Group Planning Exercise): A group exercise where candidates are given a problem and must work together to come up with a plan to solve it.
- PGT (Progressive Group Task): A physical task requiring teamwork to accomplish a specific goal using limited resources.
- HGT (Half Group Task): Similar to the PGT but with a smaller group.
- Individual Obstacles: Candidates navigate through a series of physical obstacles to demonstrate their physical and mental agility.
- Personal Interview:

- Conference:
- Final Review: The board members review the performance of the candidates across all tests and interviews. The final decision is made in this conference, and the results are announced to the candidates.
